How to make Palak Peas Rice

Palak peas rice is a simple and healthy recipe, they say palak is rich in iron and Green Peas is rich in fiber. Palak as it has a very bland taste it goes well with any vegetables. This  can be easily prepared in less than 20 minutes.  This recipe is recently added to my breakfast list, apart from the regular idli, dosa etc etc… This can also be a lunch box recipe as many of us prefer rice items to the lunch box. So enjoy a healthy yet tasty recipe :)



Cinnamon – 1 inch
Cloves – 4
Bay leaf – 1
Onions – 3
Tomato – 1
Kasuri methi -1tblspn
Garam masala powder – 1/2 tspn
Green peas – 1 cup
Rice – 1 big cup
Salt to taste

Blanch 1 big cup of Palak and grind to paste

Grind to paste
Onion -1
Green chillies 10-12 according to taste
Garlic – 8 cloves
Ginger- 1 inch


Heat oil and little ghee in a pressure cooker. When the oil is slightly hot add bay leaf, cinnamon,cloves and onions. Fry till the onions slightly change the color and then add tomatoes and green peas. Saute till the tomatoes are completely cooked and now add kasuri meti, ground paste and Garam masala powder and saute till the raw smell of the masala goes. Now add palak paste and saute for a minute. Now add rice and 2 cups of water, salt to taste and close the lid and wait till 3 whistles. Now hot and healthy palak peas rice is ready.. Serve hot with any raita..

Preparation time – 20 minutes.
Serves – 4
